Hail

Did you know that Hail is one of the most destructive types of weather?

In Alberta hail causes a wide variety of damage to homes and businesses every year.

The Total Exteriors management team has over 30 years experience dealing with Hail claims of all types. We have done it all, from replacing a few asphalt shingles on a home to completely removing and replacing complicated roofing systems on commercial structures.

Along with offering great workmanship we are HAAG Certified, follow proper safety protocols and of course we are fully insured.

In the roofing and insurance industries, the phrase "HAAG Certified" means a lot. It indicates that a contractor can effectively and efficiently inspect and assess damage. The HAAG Certification serves as the extra authority you need if you ever find yourself at odds with another's findings. You can have comfort in knowing that our Project Managers have the skills and knowledge needed. They have years of on the job experience while also passing courses developed and taught by practicing forensic engineers and others.

Many don’t realize that Hail forms in a variety of shapes and sizes. Hail often causes substantial damage to roofing and other exterior components.

Hail damage is often hard to determine from the ground. It often requires a close inspection to identify, particularly during the period immediately following a storm event.

A roof can sustain hail damage regardless of its age or condition. Although a roof can take years to begin leaking from storm damage, your insurance coverage should be determined upon identification of any damage. Most insurance companies enforce time limits in which claims can be filed to avoid liability for additional interior damage expenses from leaking storm damaged roofs.

Most insurance carriers prefer a qualified professional contractor to verify damage before a claim is filed to prevent unnecessary claims. The Project Managers at Total Exteriors are trained to identify storm damage in accordance with industry standards and are available to provide a comprehensive analysis without cost or obligation.

Prevention is the best way to reduce Hail damage. Here are a few tips on how to protect your property from damage:

• If you are told to evacuate or take cover, do it!
• If there’s a storm brewing, keep up with its progress through local news or weather channels.
• Secure all glass openings (windows, sun roof) to limit additional damages
• Make sure outdoor furniture and fixtures and all vehicles are brought in to prevent them from being damage
• Stay away from glass windows and doors and seek refuge in an interior room with no windows
• Avoid using electrical appliances
• Take care of your pets: A storm can be a frightening experience, and they could injure themselves or you if they panic
• Do not light candles or lanterns – they could get blown over causing a fire
• Never go out during the storm – flying debris can cause severe injuries
• After the storm clears, and you come out, beware of downed power lines and gas leaks
• Stay away from heavily damaged areas.
• Listen to your TV or radio for instructions and monitor appropriate Social Media sites for updates.
